The Yucca Valley High School boys’ basketball team lost a tough one last night (January 24) to Indio High School. With the win, Indio is 7-0 and league champions. The Trojans were up by 6 with 1:30 left in the game and when Indio hit a couple of three-point shots and then another at the buzzer to win 44-41. Coach Possehl was very proud of the Trojan effort as he has been all year long. The Trojans were led by seniors Aidan Gamboa who battled in the post, DeMar Smith who hit a couple of big shots, and Sanford Jones played very well and was great on the boards. The loss is a tough one to take for the Trojans, but the team says they will learn from it and use it to make them better for next time. Up next for the Trojans is a home match-up against basin rivals, the Twentynine Palms High School Wildcats, on Friday (January 28).
