TRIAL POSTPONED FOR YUCCA VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL TEACHER ACCUSED OF SEX WITH STUDENT

A Yucca Valley High School teacher accused of unlawful and lewd acts with a minor agreed Friday to postpone his trial until next week. According to court records, Zachary Miller, 34, was in Joshua Tree Superior Court Friday for a trial readiness hearing when judge Bert Swift accepted a motion to postpone the trial from today until January 20. High school officials notified the Sheriff’s department last January that they believed Miller was having an inappropriate relationship with a 17-year-old student, and Miller was placed on administrative leave. Miller was arrested last March and charged with three felony counts of unlawful sex with a minor and three felony counts of lewd conduct with a minor. Miller posted bail of $225,000 and was released several hours after his arrest.
