After hearing motions Tuesday in the murder trial of Christopher Lee, jury selection was scheduled to have begun yesterday for the man accused of murdering 19-year-old Erin Corwin in June of 2014. However, the district attorney turned over new evidence to Lee’s attorney yesterday, which forced a continuance of Lee’s trial. Lee’s pretrial conference is now set for May 20 and, unless there are more delays, the jury trial will start June 27. The case was moved to San Bernardino in September of 2015 after Lee’s attorney objected to the two judges in Joshua Tree. Lee’s trial is now in courtroom of its third judge in San Bernardino; after being in front of Judge Glenn Yabuno and Judge Dwight Moore, it will now be held in Judge David Mazurek’s courtroom at the San Bernardino Justice Center. Corwin was married to a Twentynine Palms Marine and vanished June 28, 2014. After searching for weeks, investigators found her body 140 feet down the Rose of Peru Mine east of Twentynine Palms. Lee is accused of killing Corwin, with whom he was having an affair, and dumping her body.
