Tree doesn’t hide 29 Palms man after he flees from traffic stop

A Twentynine Palms man is alleged to hid behind a tree in a residential yard after fleeing from a traffic stop.

Yesterday at 12:30 p.m., a Sheriff’s Deputy recognized Huot Kuot, 44, in the drivers seat of the vehicle. Kuot was know to the deputy to have a “no bail warrant,” related to violating supervised release, and the deputy attempted a traffic enforcement stop near Adobe Road and Homestead Dr.

According to the deputy’s report, Kuot did not pull over, continuing to Indian Trail and Alfalfa Avenue before stopping the vehicle and taking off on foot. The Deputy searched for Kuot for five minutes, before finding him hiding behind a tree in a residential yard a block from where Kuot left his vehicle.

Huot Kuot was arrested for suspicion of felony failure to yield and his outstanding warrant, and was booked at the Morongo Basin Jail.
