TRAINING STARTS FOR SOCCER SEASON

Soccer season is approaching in our local schools. Twentynine Palms High School soccer player and ROP Broadcast student Melisa Vasquez says training has already started…
With soccer season at Twentynine Palms right around the corner, training is essential for good tryouts performance. In an interview with Coach Sanchez, he recommended that “physical training will benefit you.” To begin the season, you must maintain such training throughout the season.
Soccer players are expected to run a lot, so when asked how much he recommended players run, Sanchez offered, “It’s not important how long of a run people go on, the importance is to be consistent with how long.” He says he believed players should be running four times a week to prepare for the five times a week they will be expected to run during the season, since the average soccer player runs around three miles in a game.
The type of training Sanchez advises is to work on your fitness, specifically cardio to get into shape for running. Later on, players should continue to “practice on fundamentals, such as dribbling, passing, and shooting,” to continue improving.
