Traffic stops leads to arrest of driver and passengers for suspected drugs and ammo possession

A traffic stop in Twentynine Palms led to three arrests, including a convicted felon alleged to be in possession of drugs and ammunition and two people with active felony warrants. 

On Wednesday (December 4) at around 11 p.m., a San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputy conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle near Twentynine Palms Highway and Charlotte Road in Twentynine Palms. Deputies identified a person in the vehicle as Andrew Cardiel, 52-year-old resident of Twentynine Palms, and say that he was found to be in possession of ammunition and methamphetamine. As a convicted felon, Cardiel is prohibited from being in possession of any kind of weapon or ammunition. 

Deputies conducted a search of Cardiel’s home in Twentynine Palms, during which they contacted Tasha Perales, a 44-year-old resident of Twentynine Palms, and Katherine Walter, a 39-year-old resident of Twentynine Palms, both of whom have active warrants for felony charges related to car theft.

Andrew Cardiel was arrested on suspicion of being a felon in possession of ammunition and controlled substances and is being held on $30,000 bail. Tasha Perales was arrested for her felony warrant and is being held on $40,000 bail. Katherine Walter was arrested for her felony warrant and is being held without bail.
