Traffic stop on Old Woman Springs Road leads to suspected “ghost gun” arrest

A routine traffic stop led to the arrest of a convicted felon alleged to be in possession of a semi-automatic “ghost gun.”

On Wednesday (October 30) at around 1:30 p.m., San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling along Old Womans Spring Road near Wilhart Dr. in Yucca Valley.

During the stop, deputies spoke with Austin Toensing, 38, and they say he was found in possession of an unserialized AR-15 style gun and suspected methamphetamine. Toensing was identified as a convicted felon, and is prohibited from possessing any type of weapon or ammunition.

Austin Toensing was arrested on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm and has since been released on bail.
