TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO TWO ARRESTS FOR POSSESSION OF STOLEN VEHICLE

A traffic stop on a stolen vehicle led to the arrests of two men, with a third person still at large. According to a Sheriff’s report, a deputy made a traffic stop of a stolen vehicle about 10:45 a.m. Tuesday at Buena Vista Drive and Avalon Avenue in Yucca Valley. The driver, Maurice Mendoza, 56, of Landers, said he was buying the car from Gary Ogdahl, 55, of Twentynine Palms. Ogdahl denied any part of the transaction and named a third, unnamed person as being responsible. However, deputies learned that the third person is currently in Texas. Maurice Mendoza and Gary Ogdahl were both arrested for investigation of receiving stolen property, booked into the West Valley Detention Center and Morongo Basin Jail, respectively, with their bail set at $50,000 each.
