Traffic stop in Joshua Tree leads to investigation into transporting controlled substances and DUI charge

A Morongo Valley man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI) and transporting controlled substances through Joshua Tree.
On Monday (February 9) at around 10:30 a.m., California Highway Patrol officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle near the intersection of Border Avenue and Starlight Street in Joshua Tree. County records show that Daniel Tomlinson, a 48 year-old resident of Morongo Valley, was found to be under the influence of a drug and in possession of a large quantity of additional controlled substances. Tomlinson was taken into custody.
Daniel Tomlinson was arrested on suspicion of transporting controlled substances, possession of controlled substances with two priors, and DUI. He is being held at the West Valley Detention Center on $50,000 bail.
