The Yucca Valley Trojans Track Team traveled to Thermal to take on Desert Mirage and won 29 out of the 30 events contested. The boys were a perfect 15 for 15, with Haemish O’Donnell claiming four wins, two individual and two relays. Christian Kahrs, William Perrance, and Logan Vallo claimed three victories, Danny Magennis and Trevor Gorwin got two wins, and a host of other Trojans getting one. The boys totaled 107 points to 20 for the Rams. The girls grabbed first place in 14 out of the 15 events. The dominance of Teyana Poole led the way for the ladies by winning the high jump, triple jump, 100-meter hurdles, and leading off the winning 4 by 100-meter relay. The distance squad scored a perfect 27 point in all three races, each won by a different Trojan. Katelyn Wood won the 1600 meter, Mariah Muchtar won the 800 meter, and Hunter Stepp won the 3200 meter. Jazmin Pushkar captured three victories, individual wins in the 100 meter, 300-meter hurdles, 4-by-100-meter relay. The girls scored 105 point to 17 for the Rams. Both teams are 3-0 in league.
Twentynine Palms Track and Field faced the Big Bear Bears yesterday in Yucca Valley because the new Twentynine Palms field is not ready. The girls battled in a back and forth with the girls’ 1600-meter relay edging out the Bears, as Stacy Holmes anchored the victory. Sia Faletagaloa earned two first places in the shot put and discus, as the Lady Wildcat throwers swept the Bears. Martini Dogan took first in the long jump, 4×1, and 4×4. The team awaited the results of the triple jump: the final score Bears 60, Lady Wildcats 58. On the boys’ side, the Bears jumped out to a 13-1 lead after the first two events. After the 200-meter run, the score was 33-35 in favor of the Bears. After the first place victory by Noel Figueroa in the 3200-meter, the ‘Cats started to pour points in. Jessey Brocar, Diante Aiken, and Marcus Chestnut swept both the 110-meter high hurdles and the 300-meter hurdles. The final score was Bears 47, Wildcats 80.
