TPJHS lockdown lifted as threat determined to be unfounded

Twentynine Palms Junior High School was lockded down briefly today (December 4) while a threat to the campus was investigated and ultimately determined to be unfounded.

Representatives from Morongo Unified School District report that school staff recevied a threatening phone call. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department was notified, and the school was placed on lockdown while Deputies investigated the campus. Neighboring schools including Twentynine Palms Elementary School and the PLUS program were placed on a shelter-in-place order.

Deputies determined that the threat was unfounded, declared the campus safe, and removed the lockdown after 1 p.m..
