TPHS SWIM TEAM SPLITS THE WIN, QUALIFIED FOR 4 CIF TIMES

The Twentynine Palms High School Wildcat swim team traveled to the Desert Mirage High School pool and split the win last Thursday (March 31). The Lady Cats won and the men kept the Desert Mirage team guessing who would take the win. The only way to qualify for CIF times is in a pool with touchpads and Desert Mirage’s pool is the first pool the Wildcats have had the opportunity to qualify with. The Lady Cats swam for four CIF Times. Coach Michelle Minatrea-Te’o said, “Our swimmers are a phenomenal group. I am beyond proud of each and every one. This was another team that outnumbered our swimmers. Our girls placed 1^st in 6 out of 8 events and the boys placed 1^st in all 8 events.”

The following are the events and swimmers who swam for CIF times and placed first at the meet:

• Patricia Zuniga swam two individual CIF times in the 50 and 100 yard Free Style.
• 200 yard Free Relay team of: Madi Soster, Kate Bobadilla, Staysia Jenkins and Patricia Zuniga.
• 400 yard Free Relay team of: P. Zuniga, K. Bobadilla, Nadia Moreno and M. Soster.

Other First place finishes for the ladies are:

• Staysia Jenkins in the 100 yard Back Stroke and she lowered her time by 6 seconds.
• Kate Bobadilla in the 100 yard Breast Stroke, she lowered her time by 4 seconds.

2^nd place:

• Nadia Moreno took 8 seconds off her 200 yard Free Style.
• Madi Soster in the 50 yard Free Style and the 100 yard Breast Stroke.
• 100 yard Free Style was Kate Bobadilla.
• 500 yard Free Style swimmer was Virginia Johnson.

3^rd place:

• 200 yard Free Style was Virginia Johnson.
• 500 yard Free Style was Nadia Moreno.

4^th place:

• Staysia Jenkins swam the 200 yard Free Style.

The men results are:

First Place finishes in all 8 events are:

• Daviahn Thrasher in the 200 yard Free Style and 100 yard Back Stroke.
• Aiden Sullivan swam the 50 and 100 yard Free Style.
• George Bourikas lowered his time by 14 seconds in the 500 yard Free Style.
• 200 and 400 yard Free Relays team of: Daviahn Thrasher, George Bourikas, Moses Williams and Aiden Sullivan.
• Moses Williams swam the 100 yard Breast Stroke and bettered his time by 6 seconds.

2^nd place:

• George Bourikas in the 50 yard Free Style.

4^th place:

• Moses Williams bettered his time by 3 seconds swimming the 100 yard Free Style.
