Each year, the Town of Yucca Valley Recreation Department holds their Youth Basketball program, and registration for the 2024-25 season is officially open. Player evaluation clinics will be held beginning in November with practices beginning in December.
The program is traditionally open to students in 3rd through 8th grade, with individual age groups for both boys and girls, and is designed to provide players with skills, fitness, and preparation for high-school level play.
This year, the program features a new co-ed Pee Wee League for 1st and 2nd grade students, which will introduce young athletes to basketball fundamentals.
Registration is $87 and includes a jersey, shorts, and picture package. There is an early bird price of $77.

The Town of Yucca Valley is actively seeking volunteers interested in coaching for the Youth Basketball League. Applicants must be 18 or older, and no prior experience is necessary as training and resources will be provided. Coaching applications are available at the Yucca Valley Community Center.

Practices will begin on weeknights starting December 9, 2024, with games commencing on January 11, 2025, and running through early March. All-star tournaments will be held throughout March. The registration fee is $87, with an early bird discount of $77, which includes a team jersey, shorts, and a complimentary picture package. Sibling discounts of $10 are available for families with multiple children participating.
Draft Day Player Evaluation Clinics
All registered players must attend a mandatory “Draft Day” player evaluation clinic at the Boys and Girls Club Gymnasium. This evaluation helps coaches and staff ensure balanced teams and competitive gameplay. The dates and times for each division are as follows:
- 3rd/4th Grade Girls: November 12th at 6:45 p.m.
- 3rd/4th Grade Boys: November 12th at 7:45 p.m.
- 5th/6th Grade Girls: November 13th at 6:45 p.m.
- 5th/6th Grade Boys: November 13th at 7:45 p.m.
- 7th/8th Grade Girls: November 14th at 6:45 p.m.
- 7th/8th Grade Boys: November 14th at 7:45 p.m.
If players are unable to attend the weekday sessions, additional evaluations will be held on Saturday, November 16th:
- 3rd/4th Boys and Girls: 9:00 a.m.
- 5th/6th Boys and Girls: 10:30 a.m.
- 7th/8th Boys and Girls: 12:00 p.m.
