TOWN OF YUCCA VALLEY URGES RESIDENTS TO AVOID THE HIGHWAY

The Town of Yucca Valley is urging residents to avoid the highway. Caltrans has begun a $48 million mill and overlay project along State Route 62 from Indian Canyon in Desert Hot Springs to Yucca Mesa Road in Yucca Valley, including a section in Twentynine Palms. The project is anticipated to be completed by summer 2023. The project with safety lane closures is creating additional congestion in the Town of Yucca Valley. As a reminder, alternative arterial roadways are available. Motorists are encouraged to use Onaga Trail, Sunnyslope Ave, Paxton Ave, and Yucca Trail as alternative east-west travel options to reduce traffic along Highway 62 during construction. The Town encourages motorists to plan ahead, leave a little earlier, and try to be patient during construction.
