The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting. An impartial panel of judges determines whether the town demonstrates full disclosure to clearly communicate its financial story. Receiving the Certificate shows the public, vendors, grant agencies, and bond underwriters that the town is committed to responsible and sustainable financial policies and practices. The town ended its 2016-17 fiscal year with undesignated reserves at 61 percent of expenditures, well in excess of the town’s reserve policy.
