Town of Yucca Valley expands Pickleball programs

The Town of Yucca Valley Recreation Department is excited to introduce an expanded lineup of Spring and Summer Pickleball programs, providing new opportunities for players of all ages and skill levels to participate in this fast-growing sport.

Pickleball Clinics

Players looking to refine their skills can participate in structured instruction and playtime through the department’s pickleball clinics. Sessions are scheduled for Tuesday and Thursday mornings, as well as Wednesday evenings, with designated time slots for beginner and intermediate players. Each session consists of four classes, focusing on core skills essential for mastering the game. Thursday morning clinics feature skill-intensive drills for those looking for extra practice. The morning clinics will begin on Tuesday, March 25, and Thursday, March 27, while the evening clinics will start on Wednesday, March 26.

Pickleball Ladder League

For those seeking a mix of camaraderie and competition, registration is now open for the popular Pickleball Ladder League. This league provides a platform for players to engage in match play, track their progress, and advance in rankings by securing victories. Participants will be paired with others of similar skill levels, fostering a supportive and competitive atmosphere. The league will take place on Thursday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., starting March 27, 2025. The cost is $20 for the 4-week session, with a drop-in rate of $6 per day.

Pickleball Teen Clinics and Drop-In Nights

Teen Nights offer teens ages 12-17 the opportunity to learn and play pickleball in a casual, drop-in format while socializing with peers. These events will be held on Friday, June 13 and Friday, July 18, from 7 to 9 p.m., at a cost of $5 per session.

Additionally, Youth Pickleball Clinics are designed for beginners, providing a fun and supportive environment to learn the fundamentals of the game. Balls and paddles will be provided for both the teen drop-in nights and the youth clinics. Youth Pickleball Clinics will take place on April 12, May 17, and June 21, from 4 to 6 p.m., at a cost of $20 per session.

Pickleball Tournaments

Competitive players can take part in the Recreation Department’s adult pickleball tournaments, which will follow a Round Robin format and feature six divisions based on skill level and playing preference, including doubles, mixed doubles, and two experience levels. The Spring Tournament is scheduled for Saturday, May 10, beginning at 8 a.m., while the final tournament of the season will be held on Saturday, September 20, starting at 2:00 p.m. and continuing into the evening.
