In our fourth story reviewing the top stories of 2019, we start with a horrific traffic crash that killed a young Yucca Valley man. About 6:30 a.m. on October 19, Thomas Geiger was driving eastbound on Highway 62 and turned left onto Indio Trail. His car was T-boned by a Sheriff’s patrol car driving westbound on the highway. Killed in the collision was Robert Barajas, 24, who was in the passenger seat of Geiger’s Honda.
November started with the first sewer hook-ups in Yucca Valley. Z107.7 Radio aired the first flush into the new sewer system live on the air November 4. Phase 1 of the sewer system has been completed, although residents are still continuing to hook up to the system.
