The November Presidential General Election may still be 88 days away, but tomorrow is the deadline for citizens to file with the county if they want to run for local office. Reporter Mike Lipsitz tells us what you need to know…
The filing deadline for citizens interested in running for a school board or special district office in the November third election must file all candidacy documents with the County Registrar of Voters by 5 p.m. tomorrow, August 7. For the health and safety of everyone, potential candidates must schedule appointments for candidate-filing services. Appointments take place in San Bernardino today and tomorrow only and may be scheduled by calling 909-387-8300 or by following this link: https://www.sbcountyelections.com/ElectedOfficialsCandidates/CandidateAppointments/ScheduleAppointment.aspx. Walk-in appointments will not be available. Only the candidate or their authorized representative will be allowed in the filing room for an in-person appointment. Face masks are required.
The Registrar of Voters reminds potential candidates who participated in a video conference appointment that they must file a signed Declaration of Candidacy by tomorrow’s deadline as well.
