Today is Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Today is Martin Luther King Jr. Day, an observance of the civil rights leader’s birthday. 

As such, government agencies, including local municipalities, county services including courts and records, and federal agencies, including the United States Post Office, will be closed until tomorrow (January 21).

Morongo Unified School District schools are closed for today.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Morongo Basin Station offices will be closed. For law enforcement contact please call non-emergency dispatch at (909)387-8313.

You can celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day with a free visit to Joshua Tree National Park, The free admission day is part of a nationwide initiative by the National Park Service, encouraging visitors to experience the park’s extensive hiking trails, panoramic vistas, and dark skies perfect for stargazing.

While admission fees are waived, standard charges for camping, tours, and other amenities still apply. Check the National Park Service website for current conditions, parking updates, and restrictions.
