TIPS FOR MAINTAINING CIVIL FAMILY CONVERSATION THIS THANKSGIVING

With this tense political environment, we are living in, things could get downright ugly around the Thanksgiving table this year. Reporter Eric Knabe has tips on keeping the holiday more festive than fighting…

It is time for family and friends to gather around the Thanksgiving table. To keep the peace, here are some tips to stay civil this Thanksgiving. First, set some conversational ground rules and don’t be afraid to change the subject. There’s a time and place to talk politics, and the Thanksgiving table doesn’t have to be one of them. Stay respectful and don’t take things personally. Listen carefully and let people finish talking. Don’t try to change someone else’s mind because you think “you are right,” and “they are wrong.” And remember, the purpose of Thanksgiving is to be thankful, grateful, and enjoy each other’s company.
