The Officers’ Spouses’ Club of Twentynine Palms aboard the Marine base awarded more than $35,000 in grants and scholarships last year. The organization gave $16,000 in grants to organizations such as the Twentynine Palms food pantry, 29 Palms Art Gallery, Reach Out Morongo Basin, the Boys and Girls Club of the Hi-Desert, Copper Mountain College Foundation, and the Armed Services YMCA. Additionally, $19,000 in college scholarships were awarded to military students whose parents call the Morongo Basin home. The OSC raises the majority of its funds through a gala auction. The Officers’ Spouses’ Club of 29 Palms’ gala auction is the largest fundraiser for the club’s grants and scholarship program; last year, it awarded $35,000 in grants and scholarships. This year’s gala will be held off base to make it easier for those without base access to attend. The gala auction is set for 6 p.m. Saturday, February 11 at Smith’s Ranch Hall in Twentynine Palms. The theme this year is “Denim and Diamonds.” The night out on the town includes fabulous auction items, food, and entertainment. The gala event is open to civilians and military.
