Tara Genovese has been a Marine spouse for 18 years, and has lived in such out-of-the-ordinary places as Burkina Faso in Africa, Copenhagen, and Twentynine Palms. She says the way to enjoy each duty station is to get out, meet the locals, adapt to the culture, and make new friends.
Rebekah Samuel said when she married her Marine, military life was a culture shock. She adapted by throwing herself into all kinds of activities, including volunteering at her church and serving as a liaison between the base housing and military residents.
Traci Wilson has been a Marine spouse for 16 years and served on active duty herself. She has been very busy with volunteering with Family Readiness, her children’s schools, and was the 2018 Irene Ferguson Marine Spouse of the Year by the Flying Leatherneck Historical Foundation.
