THREE SMALL EARTHQUAKES RATTLE JOSHUA TREE AND EL CENTRO YESTERDAY

Three small earthquakes occurred in our region Wednesday afternoon, with the U.S. Geological Survey recording 3.3 in Joshua Tree and a 3.5 and a 2.6 in the Imperial Valley.
The first, a 3.3 magnitude trembler in Joshua Tree, occurred at 2:59 p.m. at a depth of 2.4 miles, and two others, a 3.5 magnitude quake, recorded at 3:21 p.m. at a depth of 8.3 miles, and at 3:48 p.m. a 2.6 magnitude quake at a depth of 9.4 miles were both recorded about five miles from El Centro. Some people in Yucca Valley and Joshua Tree reported they felt the first tremor, and others, just south of Brawley, reported that they felt the larger quake in the Imperial Valley. All three reported quakes hit within three miles of the San Andreas fault.
