Three people were injured, two critically, during a roll-over crash in Joshua Tree Sunday night. According to the California Highway Patrol, an 80-year-old man from Twentynine Palms, who was not identified, was driving a 2007 Ford F150 pickup truck eastbound on Highway 62, just east of Juniper Road in Joshua Tree about 9:15 p.m. Mariah Natividad, 21, of Twentynine Palms, was driving a 2006 Toyota Prius eastbound at a high rate of speed. The CHP says she failed to slow as she approached the truck and clipped the rear of it, causing it to go onto the right shoulder and roll over several times into the open desert south of the highway. The driver and his 76-year-old female passenger—who were both wearing their seatbelts—received major injuries during the roll-over. Natividad did not immediately stop, but was located at Saddleback and the highway with minor injuries. The driver and passenger of the truck were taken to Desert Hospital in Palm Springs. Mariah Natividad was arrested for investigation of driving under the influence, booked at the Morongo Basin Jail, with her bail set at $100,000.
