The DeAnza League champion Twentynine Palms Wildcats golf team capped off a successful season at the De Anza league finals yesterday in Desert Hot Springs. The top 20 finishers from the first day of the tournament competed for individual honors with the top four finishers moving to the CIF individual Championship tournament. Coach Gary Bell said the players teed off in 35 mile per hour winds with gusts to 50 miles per hour, and the boys found themselves not only competing with each other, but against the elements as well. Jared Lindley from Yucca Valley came in first place with a 36-hole score of 175. Justin Delarosa from Twentynine Palms started the day nine shots behind Lindley, climbed back to within five, and shot the best round of the day, 95, and was runner-up of the tournament. Wildcats sophomore Jace Hope had the second lowest score of the day, 97, and finished as the fourth qualifier. The three local golfers will be moving on to the CIF individual championships this coming up Monday, May 9, at Indian Canyon Country Club in Palm Springs.
