THREE LOCAL COUNTY COMMUNITY PLAN MEETINGS THIS WEEK

San Bernardino County is updating the community plans for several areas in the Morongo Basin. Part of the larger countywide plan, the community plans establish development guidelines, and goals with the aim of creating or maintaining the type of communities that residents there want to see. You might say that the community plans are to the unincorporated areas what the planning commissions are to Yucca Valley and Twentynine Palms. Assignment reporter Mike Lipsitz says the county wants to know what’s important to each community…
In the coming weeks and months, the county will hold a series of workshops designed to educate residents about the community plans and learn from residents what they envision for their community in the years ahead. The county has entitled the first round of workshops, “What We Value.” This topic will be repeated for each community of interest.
On Monday, September 12, county reps will meet residents of the Homestead Valley communities including Landers, Flamingo Heights, Yucca Mesa and Johnson Valley from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Johnson Valley Community Center on Quailbush Road in Johnson Valley.
Then on Tuesday, September 13, county reps will meet residents of Pioneertown from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Pioneertown Motel.
And on Wednesday, September 14, Morongo Valley residents can reveal what they value from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at Covington Park in the CSD Building’s Senior Nutrition Room.
