Three people were injured in a three-vehicle crash in Yucca Valley Wednesday afternoon. Investigators say at 12:49 p.m., Amber Rivera, 22, of Yucca Valley ran a red light when she was traveling eastbound on Highway 62 at Balsa Avenue. Rosana Favre, 35, of Joshua Tree, was traveling northbound on Balsa Avenue and making a left turn onto westbound Highway 62 with a green light. Rivera’s red Ford Taurus struck Favre’s white Toyota Camry on the driver’s side doors. A white Jeep Cherokee, driven by Rudolph Lechugo, 85, of Yucca Valley, was behind Favre and was unable to avoid the collision, and hit the Camry in the rear passenger corner. Favre was trapped inside her car and had to be extricated by firefighters using the Jaws of Life. Rosana Favre was taken to Desert Hospital in Palm springs for treatment of her injuries. Amber Rivera declined medical aid and Rudolph Lechugo was uninjured. The Sheriff’s Department said it does not appear that drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.
