Three people were injured, two seriously, in a traffic collision in Twentynine Palms Saturday night. According to the Sheriff’s Department, a Chevrolet Silverado was traveling northbound on Lear Avenue when it collided with a Nissan Altima that was making a left-hand turn from Two Mile Road onto southbound Lear Avenue. The force of the collision resulted in the Silverado landing upside down on its roof. When Twentynine Palms firefighters arrived, they saw smoke coming from one vehicle, but no active fire. A woman inside the Altima had to be extricated by firefighters; she and the man in the Altima were taken by Morongo Basin Ambulance to the landing zone at Hi-Desert Medical Center and then flown to area trauma hospitals with serious injuries. The man in the Silverado was taken by MBA to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs.
