Three people were hospitalized following a fiery crash in Yucca Mesa Friday. About 3:40 p.m., a minivan and a full-size pick-up truck hauling a trailer traveling on Avalon Avenue near Songbird Lane collided head-on. The engine compartment of the minivan burst into flames. The occupants of the two vehicles—who were all critically injured—were out of the vehicles by the time first responders arrived. Firefighters put out the minivan’s engine fire. One man was flown by Mercy Air to Desert Hospital in Palm Springs; the other man was taken by ambulance to Desert Hospital. A boy was flown by Mercy Air to Loma Linda University Medical Center.
