Three people were arrested Thursday and a stolen vehicle was recovered, thanks to a Joshua Tree resident who became suspicious about activity in the neighborhood. According to a sheriff’s report, deputies were called about 5 a.m. to the 61800 block of Sunburst Circle in Joshua Tree to check out two men who were concealing a gray Honda Civic with tarps and plywood behind the home. When Deputies Jeffrey Dieckhoff, Eric Gonzales, and Ryan Arthurton arrived, they saw a woman, Jaime Risnes, 22, of Joshua Tree, sitting in the driver’s seat of a blue car in the driveway, and two men — later identified as Bruce Johnson, 30, and Danny Myers, 40, both of Joshua Tree – walking behind a shed on the property. The deputies discovered the Honda hidden behind the shed covered with tarps and plywood and determined that it had been reported stolen May 27 in Cathedral City. During a search, the car’s ignition key was found on Johnson. Deputies searched the blue car that Risnes was in and in the trunk, found parts belonging to the stolen Honda. Deputies contacted the owner of the Honda who confirmed that Myers, Johnson, and Risnes did not have permission to have his car. Johnson, Myers, and Risnes were arrested for investigation of receiving stolen property and conspiracy to commit a crime. They were booked into the Morongo Basin Jail with bail set at $25,000 each.
