It’s the 48th Battle of the Bell Friday, when the undefeated Twentynine Palms High School Wildcat football team will try to beat cross-basin rival, the Yucca Valley High School Trojans, for the 11th consecutive year. At stake is the Kiwanis Club Bell, which has been in the Wildcat possession for 29 of the last 47 years. The Wildcats are 9-and-0 overall (5-and-0 in league play), while the Trojans are 3-and-6 overall and 1-and-4 in league. Kick off for the varsity game is 7 p.m., and fans are urged to arrive early at Tom Nicoll field in Twentynine Palms.
The Twentynine Palms and Yucca Valley junior varsity football teams are both 9-and-0 on the season. Their game starts at 4 p.m.
The undefeated Joshua Springs Lightning football team will face off against Valley Christian Academy Friday during the CIF first-round play-off game. The 8-man Lightning football team is 9-and-0 overall, and 4-and-0 in league play, while the Lions are 4-and-4 overall and 2-and-2 in league play. The play-off game will be played at Lightning Field at Joshua Springs Christian School, 57373 Joshua Lane. Kick-off is at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults; $5 for students.
