A threatening Facebook post led to a precautionary lock down at Morongo Valley Elementary school and sparked an investigation by the Sheriff’s Specialized Investigation Division that resulted in one person being taken into custody. The post was made Sunday afternoon showing a picture of a rifle and an ambiguous threat to quote – “kill many civilians.” After the post was discovered and posted by others, it caused severe concern by parents of students at area schools. The identity of the poster was known to be a resident of Morongo Valley and, in the interest of safety, the School District Morongo Valley Elementary was locked down at 8:10 am. After investigating, the Sheriff’s Department advised the School District that there was no Immediate danger and the lock down was lifted at 9:45 am. Sheriff’s Captain Jeff Joling said a suspect had been taken into custody for possession of a sawed-off shotgun.
