THOUSANDS AFFECTED BY POWER OUTAGES YESTERDAY

Caused by winds clocked at over 50 miles per hour locally, nearly 3,400 customers, some 8,500 people, were affected by power outages in the Morongo Basin Monday afternoon. Starting about 2:43 p.m., Edison reported outages in Joshua Tree (2,168 customers), Twentynine Palms (828 customers) and the Desert Heights neighborhood of Twentynine Palms (381 customers).
