Later today (March 16) in Yucca Valley, the Hi-Desert Water District meets for the regular twice-monthly board meeting beginning at 4 p.m. And in Joshua Tree, the gavel comes down to open the regular meeting of the Joshua Basin Water District at 5:30 p.m. Reporter Mike Lipsitz is here with more on the parallel course of the two water agencies…
Following routine business, both meetings will lead with reports on their respective transitions or adjustments to the by-division electoral system as mandated under the California Voting Rights Act. Also at both meetings, the boards will conduct public hearings to receive comments on their draft election division maps. In other business, directors at the Hi-Desert Water District tonight will also decide whether to fill the vacant board seat left by the resignation of Director Jim Byerrum either by board appointment or special election. The public is invited to observe or participate by phone or on the Zoom platform.
