This Sunday, March 10, is Newlin and Vernette Landers Founders Day from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Morongo Basin Historical Society Museum and Research Center in Landers. Bring the family to this free event and pan for gold with the Hi-Desert Gold Diggers, discover Landers’ original historic Post Office, and explore Bob Connor’s native plant garden, and learn about plants that attract butterflies, birds and other critters. There’s also a bobcat exhibit and other displays that bring our rich local history to life. Visitors are encouraged to bring old photos, scrapbooks, stories and other memorabilia to share. The Museum and Research Center is at 632 Landers Lane, about a quarter mile south of the Post Office, in Landers.
