This week is Wildfire Awareness Week. To create safer communities, the San Bernardino County Fire Department started a program called READY! SET! GO! that targets communities in high-risk wildfire-prone areas. Reporter Joshua King has more about being prepared for wildfires…
The Ready! Set! Go! program aims to inform and assist San Bernardino County residents in the case of a wildfire. Residents can get ready by understanding how their home’s location, surrounding vegetation, construction elements, and other factors place their property and them at risk during a wildfire. They can get set by having an evacuation and survival plan. Finally, it is important to remember to go, and evacuate before a wildfire spreads to keep families safe. San Bernardino County Fire offers residents a free home wildfire consultation to help them make their home and property more fire safe. Contact your local fire station to schedule a consultation. Remember, wildfire danger is always present, and awareness is a necessity.
