THIS IS NATIONAL TEEN SAFE DRIVER WEEK

Traffic collisions are the number one killer of teens. In 2013, more than 19,000 teenagers were involved in fatal or injury collisions, and in 66 percent of those crashes, the teen drivers were at fault. This week—October 18 through 24—is National Teen Safe Driver Week, and the California Highway Patrol has several programs designed to make teens safer drivers. Impact Teen Drivers is a non-profit program that tries to educate teens to be safe drivers. Start Smart is a two-hour class for teens and their parents and guardians to teach teen drivers about their responsibilities on the road and how to stay safe. Every 15 Minutes is a two-day program that focuses on high school juniors and seniors and challenges them to think about drinking and driving and the impact their decisions have on family, friends, and others.
