Theater arts are alive and well at Twentynine Palms High School. ROP Broadcasting student Bailey Hartmann presents the many faces of the International Thespian Society…
The International Thespian Society, or ITS, at Twentynine Palms High School are the people who do elementary school children’s theatre tours and combined high school and Copper Mountain College tours. They also do three full length performances with 15-30 actors per show, eight improvisations including three café night shows, as well as three competitions a year! Not only do they memorize that many lines per show and practice non-stop to put on amazing shows for their audiences but they only charge $20 to watch a musical or to enjoy their dinner theatre performances! The wonderful person in charge of all this craziness is the lovely Mrs.Waycott who has been directing the ITS gang for ten years! She herself has been in a couple hundred amateur/professional performances since she was 14 years old, and has been directing them since her 20’s. When asked “what about acting makes your day?” Mrs.Waycott had to think for a minute before responding with “it’s outrageous how the students just give and give the gift of happiness and enjoyment to their audience, watching them go from thinking that they know what they’re doing to knowing what they’re doing is amazing, and to see them apply what I’ve taught them is just incredible!” Reporting for Z107.7 news I’m ROP Broadcasting student Bailey Hartmann.
