THERE’S A NEW SHERIFF’S – LIEUTENANT – IN TOWN

With the promotion of Luke Niles from lieutenant to captain of the Morongo Basin Sheriff’s station in March, a new lieutenant has been posted to our Morongo Basin. Managing editor Tami Roleff introduces us to Lieutenant Mike Walker…

After serving in the U.S. Marine Corps, Lieutenant Mike Walker of Yucaipa followed in his uncle’s footsteps and joined the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department in 2005. Walker started his career at the Glen Helen Rehabilitation Center before he was assigned to patrol at the Big Bear and Central stations. He was promoted to detective in 2012 and he worked at the Morongo Basin station and in homicide in the Specialized Investigations Division. Three years later he was promoted to sergeant and was assigned to the Glen Helen jail, Big Bear, and homicide. Earlier this month, he was promoted again to lieutenant and became the second in command at the Morongo Basin Sheriff’s Station.
