The current production at Theatre 29 is the Andrew Lloyd Weber mega-hit, “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” a Broadway musical retelling of the Bible story about Joseph and his coat of many colors. Managing editor Tami Roleff says the musical and this production holds a special meaning for Rebecca Havely, who directed the play.
“This show has had a special place in my heart since I did the show in my teens, I’ve been dreaming of directing my son Jericho in the title role of this musical since he was able to sing.”
Rebecca Havely said this is the first musical she has directed in the Hi-Desert since moving here 10 years ago. “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” has had pleasures and challenges.
“The challenge was melding 33 cast and crew members into a smooth working troupe with a huge, multi-faceted show. The pleasure was working with a talented local production staff, enthusiastic performers and a dedicated crew.”
Havely said she’s thrilled with her team’s efforts.
“The combination of staging and choreography was really fun to plan with choreographer Sara Fleischman. We worked extremely well together as a team along with Musical Director Analisa Pilecki.”
“Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” plays Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m., and 2:30 on Sundays through September 17. Tickets are $10 to $15. For tickets, call 760-361-4151, or go to theatre29.org.
