The gala opening night of “Disney’s Mary Poppins” is tomorrow night, Friday, March 3, at Theatre 29 in Twentynine Palms. The opening night event is sponsored by the Officers’ Spouses’ Club aboard the Twentynine Palms Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center. Mary Poppins is the story of the Banks family who live on Cherry Tree Lane. The children, Jane and Michael, are out of control and need a new nanny. Their parents are insistent on someone strict for the job. When a mysterious young woman named Mary Poppins appears at their doorstep, the family finds that she’s the answer to their prayers, but in the most peculiar way. Mary Poppins takes the children on many magical and memorable adventures, but Jane and Michael aren’t the only ones she has a profound effect upon. Even grown-ups can learn a lesson or two from the nanny who says that “Anything can happen if you let it. ”Disney’s Mary Poppins” will run four consecutive weekends, Fridays and Saturdays at 7 and Sundays at 2:30, from March 3 through March 26.
