THEATRE 29 TO HOLD AUDITIONS FOR “DISNEY’S MARY POPPINS”

The first major musical of the 2017 season at Theatre 29 is “Disney’s Mary Poppins.” The casting calls for 16 featured characters, two children and a dance ensemble; all roles are open. Reporter Rebecca Havely has the audition details…
Open auditions for “Disney’s Mary Poppins take place on Monday, January 16 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Theatre 29. The roles being cast include: Mary Poppins, the magical new nanny; Mary’s friend, Bert the chimney sweep; The Banks’ family includes Mr. George Banks, Mrs. Winifred Banks, and the children Michael and Jane, who must look 9 to 11 years old. The Banks’ staff includes Katie Nanna; Mrs. Brill, the cook; Robertson, the boot man; and Miss Andrew, a former nanny. Other neighborhood characters include: Admiral Boom; Mrs. Corry, a shop owner; Neleus, a live statue in the park; the park keeper; the neighbor, Miss Lark; and the Bird Woman, who sells bags of crumbs for the pigeons. Please prepare 32 bars of a Broadway style song, no pop music please. Provide background music on an electronic device or on a CD. Dress to move, tap experience a plus.
