THEATRE 29 SUMMER YOUTH THEATER PROGRAM IN FULL SWING

The Theatre 29 Summer Youth Theater program is in full swing with 59 kids participating. Generous grants from the City of Twentynine Palms Public Arts Advisory Commission and U.S. Bank kept the cost of the five-week program down and provided scholarships; no child was turned away. The program is teaching a wide variety of theatrical skills to students from 7 to 17 in the highly successful summer arts program, now in its fourth year. Theatre 29 is the most successful all-volunteer non-profit arts organization in the Morongo Basin providing regional support for other all-volunteer troupes and schools. The Summer Youth Theater program culminates with six performances of “Disney’s Little Mermaid Jr.,” by age group, July 28, 29, 30. The musical will be directed by Gary Daigneault for the seniors, 11-17. Katie Fleischman will direct the juniors, 7-11. The musical director for the program is Bianca Stoker; choreographer is Sarah Fleischman; Lisa Goldberg is technical director; and Cindy Daigneault, costuming. Students receive a DVD of their performance, a CD or .mp3 file of the music, their script, program T-shirt, and friends, memories, and skills to last a lifetime. Tickets for Disney’s “Little Mermaid Jr.” are available at www.theatre29.org or by calling the box office at 760-361-4151.
