Theatre 29 recently celebrated its 2020 truncated theatrical season and recognized its volunteers. With the details, here’s entertainment reporter Charlie Thomas…

On Saturday evening, March 27, Theatre 29 hosted a virtual “Volunteer Appreciation” gathering on Zoom. While this annual event is normally hosted as an in-person dinner and recognition presentation at the Joshua Tree Community Center, this year’s pandemic-compliant event allowed the performers and production teams of the three productions and two virtual concerts produced last year to see and engage with one another, for many the first time in a year. Board President Gary Daigneault recognized all of the season volunteers individually as well as awarded the annual “Unsung Hero” award to Derik Shopinski. The “Above and Beyond” award went to Joe Rego and the “Volunteer of the Year” to Liyan Lagevardi.
