Theatre 29 celebrated a wildly successful 2019 season at its annual volunteer appreciation dinner party last weekend. Reporter Rebecca Havely was there and has all the details…
An evening filled with appreciation and artistic camaraderie was shared by some 100 members of the Theatre 29 family. A delicious meal from Bruce’s Coyote Kitchen was served at the Joshua Tree Community Center. All were treated to memories of the 2019 season with a collection of video snippets. All volunteers were presented with personal certificates of appreciation and deluxe LED lanterns.
The “Unseen Hero” award went to volunteer Joe Rego, recognizing his unquestioning support of Theatre 29.
The “Above and Beyond” award was presented to Nena Jimenez who served as a stage manager, lighting tech, and backstage worker during most of the 2019 season.
The highest honor the non-profit organization gives is the “Volunteer of the Year” award, which was awarded to Cole Subriar; he volunteered backstage, in the technical booth and assisted with upgrades, repairs, and building maintenance throughout the 2019 season.
