Theatre 29 and Director Lisa Goldberg are excitedly announcing the selection of the cast and creative team for the musical Broadway version of “A Christmas Carol”.
Making its way to the stage for an opening night of November 19th, A Christmas Carol (The Broadway Musical), is a delightful musical rendition of the classic Charles Dickens story. From the minds behind such shows as Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Little Shop of Horrors, Ragtime, and Seussical, Alan Menken and Lynn Ahrens breathe fantastic new life into the classic tale of A Christmas Carol.
Goldberg, in her mainstage directorial debut, will be assisted by her creative team, theatre veterans Scott Clinkscales and Liyan McNeltier as co-musical directors, newbie Anita Clinkscales as Assistant Director, and Clinkscales and Goldberg as Co-Choreographers.
Twentyn-seven talented theatre veterans and newcomers of all ages were selected for the cast from open auditions held September 26. Cast in the role of Ebenezer Scrooge is John Pollnow. Scrooge’s ghostly partner Jacob Marley is played by Rob Wanless. Going against type, Goldberg cast the three ghosts of Christmas (Past, Present, and Future) with female performers, Jasmine Shaffer, Robin Wilson, and Anna Pollnow respectively. Bob Cratchit and his wife will be portrayed by Ian Ferris, and Imelda Patu, their son Tiny Tim will be played by theatre favorite Adonai Patu. Returning to the Theatre 29 stage after a 6-year hiatus to play Scrooge’s Mother is Erin Keeran. Noah Wahlberg returns to the stage to play Scrooge’s nephew Fred as well as Young Jacob Marley. As if he didn’t have enough to do already, Scott Clinkscales will play Young Adult Scrooge, with Britney Vachon-LaGuardia playing his one and only love Emily. Mrs. Mops, Scrooge’s trust housekeeper will be portrayed by newcomer Aribella Enders. Mr. and Mrs. Fezziwig will be played by theatre veteran Kurt Schauppner and newcomer Kat Young. The ensemble playing a merry multitude of characters includes: Anna Alkire, Carly Bateman, Tyler Batman, Dennis “Easy” Boos, Jocelyn Gonzalez, Eliana Hicks, Isla Keeran, Liam Keeran, Cora Palomino, Andrew Perkins, Joseph Rego, and Kaleb Sinclair.
A Christmas Carol: The Musical will run weekends at Theatre 29 from November 19th through December 12th with performances Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:00pm and Sunday matinees at 2:30pm.
