THEATRE 29 ANNOUNCES THE REST OF THEIR 2021-22 THEATRICAL SLATE

Theatre 29 announces the second half of their 2021-22 theatrical season. Arts & Entertainment Reporter Charlie Thomas lets you know what is in store…

After an auspicious resumption of live, in person performance in October, Theatre 29 is announcing the remaining slate of productions to complete their 2021-22 season.

As they planned their reopening over the past summer, the board of directors of the community theatre decided that exercising restraint in their immediate future planning was the best course of action until it was known what the course of the pandemic would be and what the new realities of live production would require. With the successful completion of their premiere production of “A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder” in October and their upcoming production of “A Christmas Carol, The Musical” opening November 19, the board decided at their November 9th meeting to lay out the remainder of their 2021-22 theatre season.

In the new year, multi award-winning director Kathryn Ferguson will stage a new adaptation by Ken Ludwig of “Agatha Christie’s Murder on the Orient Express”, which will steam onto the stage January 14 – 30.  An original Valentine’s Day cabaret show “Almost Love” by Liyan McNeltier will pluck at the heartstrings the weekend of February 11 – 13. Award winning director Gary Daigneault will put his spin on a family-oriented production of “Rapunzel” March 25 – April 10.  This will be followed by a Morongo Basin premiere of the very adult musical comedy “Avenue Q” May 13 – June 5.  Often described as “Sesame Street for adults”, this daring production will be limited to audiences over the age of 13 only due to adult content and language. And June 27 the Summer Youth Theatre program will resume, culminating with productions of Disney’s Moana Jr.

Due to the way in which the theatre needed to reopen, the historical availability of season tickets is not an option this season.  Individual tickets sales will be available through their website at theatre29.org or by calling the Box Office at (760) 361-4151.  Tickets for the 2022 productions should be available for purchase before the end of November.  Tickets for “A Christmas Carol, The Musical” are available now.

Due to the ongoing covid-19 pandemic and the widespread infection rates and lower than average vaccination rates in San Bernardino County at the present time, Theatre 29 is utilizing information from state and local health departments, CDC guidance as well as practices and processes amongst other local theatrical venues to help insure the safety of our performers, patrons and staff.  Face masking of patrons and staff will still be required for the foreseeable future.  All performers, technicians and production staffs will have to be fully vaccinated.  All patrons age 12 and older will be asked for proof of full vaccination upon admittance to any production or proof of a negative covid test within the previous 72 hours.  At this time, since immunization has only recently been approved, children under 12 are not required to have proof of immunization nor a negative covid test.  They will, however, be required to be masked at all times.  Once they get past the holiday season, requirements may adjust, based on the realities at that time.
