“Disney’s The Little Mermaid” auditions are set for Monday, January 18, at 6 p.m. at Theater 29. Cast members being sought are: the Little Mermaid, Ariel, age 16 to 24; Prince Eric, age 20 to 30; Grimsby, Eric’s British guardian, he’s 40 to 60; Flounder, Ariel’s best fish friend, he’s 15-20; the disheveled seagull Scuttle, he’s 25 to 40; King Triton is age 35 to 45; the King’s crab advisor, Sebastian, is 30 to 40. The banished Sea Witch Ursula is 25 to 45; her too lackeys are eels, Flotsam and Jetsam, both males, 20 to 40; and the French Chef Louis is 30 to 50. The ensemble includes the ship’s crew, sea creatures, mermaid sisters, gulls, maids, chefs, animals and princesses. Some ensemble roles are available for children 8 to 15. Anyone seeking to assist in a technical capacity should also attend auditions. Rehearsals will begin immediately after auditions. The show will run weekends from March 11 through April 9.
Bring to auditions a karaoke CD or digital professional backing track. You must choose a Broadway show tune, dress to move and be prepared for cold reading. Theater 29 is located at 73637 Sullivan Road in Twentynine Palms.
