The Theatre 29 Summer Youth Theatre Program is gearing up for two productions of “High School Musical Jr.”: a “junior” cast of 7 to 10-year-olds and a “senior” cast of students 12 and over. Here is Rebecca Havley with the cast of the “Senior” production…
The “senior” cast of “High School Musical Jr.” includes Gabe Bateman as Troy, captain of the basketball team. The “new girl” Gabriella is played by Ariel Montes and drama club president Sharpay is played by Lillian Becker. The super-smart Taylor is Madelyn Nixon. Skateboarder Ripper is Carly Bateman and clue-free skater Mongo is Ella Glover. The cast also includes sports jocks, cheerleaders, drama club thespians, skaters, brainiacs and teachers. The “senior” cast is directed by Gary Daigneault with musical direction by Bianca Stoker and choreography by Lisa Goldberg.
Ensemble cast members include sports jocks Josh Thomas, Josiah Ruiz, Donavin Cox and Killian Hargrove; drama club thespians Ben Ameral, Emma Montes, Noah Wahlberg, Demi Rodden, Tomi Toyama, Jocelyn Gonzalez and Kathryn Villalobos; cheerleaders are played by Stemarion Hines, Ciani Harman, Autumn Dearstine, Marisol Richardson and Kay Lussier. The brainiacs include Ava Roberts, Ramon Richardson, Natalie Plummer and Jessi David. The skaters include Nicole Doten and Kandice Staley. Teachers are played by Anu Shekhar, Jonah Danza and Natalie Plumber.
“High School Musical Jr.” will run July 26 through 28, Friday and Saturday evening with “junior” shows at 5 p.m. and “senior” shows at 8 p.m. Sunday afternoon the “juniors” perform at noon and the “seniors” at 3 p.m. When getting tickets be sure to specify the correct “junior” or “senior” performance time.
