The public is invited to explore the wonders of the night sky this Saturday night at Sky’s the Limit Observatory and Nature Center, just north of the Twentynine Palms entrance to Joshua Tree National Park. The free event begins around 8:00 pm and continues until approximately 2:00 am. This cosmic tour will visit some of the lesser-known wonders of the night sky. Besides the familiar bright Messier Objects in the summer sky, there are many spectacular deep sky objects not included in Messier’s catalog. Guests are encouraged to bring their own binoculars and telescopes. Pads are provided for telescope setup, and volunteers will make every effort to assist as needed in setting up and using equipment. Everyone should bring snacks, water bottles, chairs, and a small flashlight (red lens, no white lights please) and dress for unpredictable desert weather. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. No pets and no smoking allowed on the STL campus, and visitors must carry out all trash.
